L.A. or Bust

So anyone who follows me on Facebook or Twitter already knows a little something about this, but here is the whole story. I'm going to Hollywood. Okay, I'm not really sure if it's Hollywood. But it is L.A. and it is for something Hollywood-related. The gift lounge for the MTV Movie Awards called and they want me to be a part of it!Β  This year's theme is Celebrity Pet Lounge, and hello! I paint pets. It is June 4-5, which feels like its about 2 minutes away and I've got a crapload of things to do.
  • Buy something to wear
  • Imagine my display
  • Make my display
  • Ship art
  • Order a banner
  • Print gift certificates
  • Get plane tickets
  • Round up supplies
  • Pack
  • Get my eyebrows waxed
  • Get a chemical peel
  • Consider an airbrush tan
I recruited my sister to go with meΒ (who, let's face it, is more interested in the off-chance that she'll see Taylor Lautner than in my artistic success.) Plus, she's cute and peppy and red-headed, whereas I am dark and shy. It will help. I am flying to Phoenix to meet my sister and then we're driving to L.A. to set up. Then it's two days of meeting celebrities and, I imagine, their puppies and pooches (I hope no one brings a pet tarantula). This was all sort of last minute, I mean, last minute for a person who doesn't even have plans for summer childcare, because that's like three weeks (wait, THREE WEEKS?!) away. And you all know that this art thing is kind of a side-gig and I don't have a marketing budget per se, and when I put out the initial, panicked announcement that I was thinking about going to L.A. (hold me) many people were unexpectedly awesome and pre-ordered ART so I could, you know, go. I'm very grateful. I'm also very excited! It's kind of like having a vacation in that we'll be in a hotel room without kids, but it will be offset by nervous small talk with people I don't know. And pictures. Someone will be taking pictures of me, with celebrities and my paintings. And I'll share them with you, I promise.
