First Painting of 2011

The new year is off to a great start - I have nearly 20 paintings on the books right now and more coming in every few days. I feel so lucky that I get to do this, you don't even know. I put together this little video of the First Painting of 2011 process; I am still in my Frida Kahlo phase so please enjoy the soundtrack, The Floating Bed, from the movie Frida, which I also love. My hope for this year is that I will be able to do a few more of these little videos, and also hope that they will improve with each attempt. Right now my "crew" includes a 7 y.o. cameragirl, an obstinate ginger cat and my ridiculously feeble editing skillz. Bear with me.

Frankie and Jessie

 Completed: January 4, 2011

Soundtrack: Soundtrack from Frida, Various Artists

Beverage: Mochas, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bushmills and Diet Ginger Ale (the painting took a week!)

  1. Nice one. I don’t think I’d be able to work to that music though. While mention of Ron was made, I did not see him in the video. Oh, and at least there were no PJ shots which is what would happen to me:)

  2. I loved that look at your process. Very interesting & you look like you take time and care with your strokes. I hope to see more! I love watching these. And, I liked your music 🙂

  3. I love the corgi’s! I keep dropping hints to my husband of how much I’d like a portrait from you of our corgi, Knuckles!

  4. I love the music – I stilll haven’t seen Frida.

Thanks for the insight into your process – I think it’s pretty obvious that it’s not only time & skill that goes into your paintings, it’s love as well.

    Keep up the good work!
