Personality

One of the most frequent questions clients ask me is "What kind of photos should I send you?" My answer is always the same. Send your favorites. I mean, there's a reason you like that photo, right? Maybe it is the expression, or the location, or memory of a special day when the photo was taken. Chances are good that if you like the photo (and I do my job) you'll like the painting too. The challenge as a portrait painter is that I'm painting from a photo that only captures a slice of someone's (or some pet's) personality. So while I may paint an accurate representation of the photo, I always hold my breath until the client says, "I love it." Luckily, 99.9% of the time, they do.*

  1. Rachel,

This is my mother’s dog. Thank you so much for making my mom so happy with your beautiful painting of her best friend.

  2. Hello Rachael!
I received your immaculately wrapped painting of Dooley a couple of days ago.
I am really impressed with the final product, the color of her fur is just like it is.
Dooley is old now, 13 years, and sick and when I look at your painting I get tears in my eyes, because the time I have to say goodbye to her is coming oh so close.
Thank you so much! Tina Goldberg

  3. Hi Rachael! I received your immaculately wrapped painting of Dooley a couple of days ago! I am so happy with the final result-the color of her fur is just like it is, espresso.
I get tears in my eyes when I look at it, it is so like her and it reflects her personality to the tee. She is apprehensive, sometimes afraid, and she must be thinking “what is going on here”? Dooley is much older now than in the picture-13 years old- and not doing well physically. The painting is such a wonderful memory of her especially now that the time is coming near when I will have to say goodbye to her. Thank you so much! Tina Goldberg

  4. Your pet portraits are so fresh, so alive. I really love your style. I know I said it before but I just found your art today.
