Why didn’t I think of that?
When I look at all the paintings I've done for my Dia de Los Muertos series, it's kind of interesting to see how they're all are turning out, compared to what I thought they would be. I had this vision of 150 closely-cropped, serious-faced compositions with dark backgrounds. And there ARE some of those. I love those. What I didn't expect was to be painting people with pink hair, yellow eyes or kitten ears - and liking it. I'm so glad people took chances when they chose photos to send to me. It's made this process extra fun, and the portrait series even more rich.
