Last Best Place

It's really amazing, isn't it, when two people so completely different have the same favorite place? Ours is Timberline Lodge and we stayed there for our anniversary a few weeks ago. We arrived in the afternoon so there was time for picture-taking (me) and bird-watching (him). Though temps were still warm in the valley, On Mt. Hood, it's already distinctly fall- windy and brisk. Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled   Every inch of the lodge was hand-built by the WPA during the depression. It's magnificent and intimate at the same time. Untitled Untitled   Untitled Untitled   That building is like church to me. We've been there many, many times but never overnight. At night it's quiet and desolate and you really get the sense that you are someplace magical.  Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled And this was the view from our window. Untitled  So, of course we'll be back.

  1. I love that place. i have only been up there once, to hang in the lodge, but it was lovely. I need to put the Lodge on my list of places for a must stay 🙂
